This is a Giclée print of a Lucienne Day designed glass towel. The design was originally commissioned in the 1960s by Ron Crawford, a director of Belfast firm, Thomas Crawford. In the decade before he had been looking at ways to revive the fortunes of the Irish linen industry and through a London subsidiary, Fragonard Ltd, he turned to Lucienne Day who by that time was well known as a textile designer. Day initially designed three towels, including the Too Many Cooks and Bouquet Garni designs, and these proved very popular and won a Design Centre Award in 1960. Day enjoyed working in the smaller medium as it allowed her to create standalone designs without the need to worry about pattern repeats.
