Sylvia Chalmers

The Scottish designer Sylvia Chalmers was a contemporary of Lucienne Day. Twelve of her stunning designs from the 50s and 60s have been digitally reproduced by the Centre for Advanced Textiles, a research hub at The Glasgow School of Art, where Chalmers had studied in the late 1940s. She designed for Heals and the fashion house Elizabeth Eaton, and ran her own textile printing company, Tuar Fabrics, for over twenty years, winning medals for her designs at the Milan Triennale in the mid 50s.
