Nazanin Kamali was born in 1966. She studied furniture design at The Royal College of Art from 1989 to 1991 before starting out as a freelance designer. She then set up, multi-disciplined design agency, Non Specific Creativity where she worked on a wide range of design projects including restaurants and art installations.
Early in her career she worked with brands including Habitat, Harvey Nichols, Karen Millen, Global Village and Aero.
She went on to join retail design company Aero as the creative director. At Aero her work included product development and design, the refurbishment of the compnay's London stores and the exhibition design for the international design exhibitions Cologne, Frankfurt, New York and 100% Design London.
After Aero she joined forces with Paul Newman to form what would become INK (Interior Newman and Kamali) which would go on to supply retailers including John lewis, the Conran Shop, SCP and Heals.
