A low back version of British designer Fred Scott's iconic Supporto chair. Scott began work on the Supporto range in the 1970s and it went into production with furniture manufacturer Hille in 1980. As the first office chair to be designed to truly ergonomic principles, it received widespread acclaim. Fred Scott described it as 'an office chair designed to cut through the hierarchy of the office' and in 1991 it was voted 'the chair that most influenced modern office seating'. Apple's Chief Design Officer, Jonathan Ive, has said of the Supporto that it is a 'wonderful chair' and it is apparently one of the few items to be found in his personal office.

The chair features a polished, dye-cast aluminium seat pan, back and five star base upholstered in black leather. Castors can be specified depending on floor types or can be replaced by glides. Other finishes are available. Call us on 0203 904 4796 to discuss further.

Although originally made by Hille, the company with which Robin Day worked for many years, the Supporto chair is now made by Zoeftig in Bude, Cornwall.
